Lake Balaton is one of our country’s iconic locations, not just for summer experiences but also for weddings. Year after year, countless couples decide to capture their moments of love along the shores of the Hungarian Sea. However, if you don’t want to get lost among the numerous options the lake offers, it’s worth choosing a wedding photographer who not only knows the area but is also passionately in love with it. This time, based on his local knowledge, Krisztián Horváth from Kristoban Photography has shared with us the locations that are perfect choices for conducting a wedding photoshoot or a creative photoshoot by Lake Balaton.
1. On the Shores of Balaton
Directly along the shores of Lake Balaton, whether on the northern or southern side, you’ll find an exceptional setting for romantic photography. The gentle whispers of the waves and the golden hues of the sunset create a perfect atmosphere to capture moments of love. A picnic by the shore, bohemian walks, and intimate moments on the sandy, stony, or constructed beaches—these scenarios will undoubtedly make every moment unforgettable during a wedding photoshoot by Balaton. One of my favorite locations is Fonyód, situated on the southern shore of Balaton, which offers a stunning backdrop for romantic photography. The small shell-strewn beach and the view of the northern shore bathed in the glow of the sunset provide an ideal setting for capturing the moments of wedding or creative photography.
2. Panorama of Rolling Vineyards by Balaton
The panorama between Badacsony, Szigliget, Szent György Hill, and the hills of Csopak feels as if we’ve stepped into the enchanting landscapes of Provence, France, rather than a wedding photoshoot by Lake Balaton. During sunset and sunrise, these locations paint the sky with breathtaking colors, while the gentle slopes of the Balaton terrain provide a romantic backdrop. The photos taken here radiate a unique and magical atmosphere, allowing couples to experience their shared moments in secluded locations free from bustling distractions during their wedding or creative photography and videography sessions.

One of my favorite spots is the top of Csobánc Hill, which can be reached with a pleasant 35-minute walk. From here, the panorama is stunning, and there is a medieval castle ruin that adds an extra dimension to the memories of wedding photography by Balaton.
4. Tihany, the Jewel of Balaton
Tihany is one of the most romantic locations around Lake Balaton, filled with cultural and natural treasures. The areas around the abbey and the Inner Lake, with their lavender fields, provide a fairy-tale backdrop for wedding or creative photography. The Balaton Panorama Promenade, antique streets, waterfront walkways, and the Inner Lake serve as a haven for romantic shoots, filled with secluded and hidden spots that only those with good local knowledge can find.

The scattered harbors and fishing docks along the shores of Lake Balaton are ideal for couples who wish to capture their moments together in the proximity of nature by the water. The reflection of boats on the water creates an unparalleled romantic atmosphere, bringing the images to life. While several docks are already closed to tourists, creative photography can typically be arranged without any obstacles after a prior consultation.
